Jan Looten (1618, 1681) was a Dutch Golden Age landscape painter known for his dramatic forest scenes and wooded landscapes influenced by the Scandinavian wilderness. He trained in Amsterdam before relocating to England, where he found patronage among the English aristocracy. His works frequently depict ancient trees, rocky terrain, and atmospheric lighting reminiscent of Jacob van Ruisdael's style.
