Hong Hao is a Beijing-based Chinese contemporary artist best known for his meticulous scanned compositions of everyday objects, receipts, maps, and ephemera arranged into densely layered tableaux that comment on consumerism, globalization, and information overload. His 'My Things' series, in which he obsessively photographed and scanned personal possessions over many years, brought him international recognition as a leading figure in Chinese contemporary art. He is also noted for his earlier 'Selected Scriptures' series, which appropriated and subverted the visual language of official maps and publications.
