Edgar Heap of Birds (Hachivi Edgar Heap of Birds) is a Cheyenne and Arapaho artist and educator based in Oklahoma, internationally recognized for his conceptually driven text-based works, prints, and public installations that address Indigenous sovereignty, social justice, and historical memory. He has exhibited widely at institutions including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Smithsonian Institution, and Documenta in Kassel, Germany, and his public works have been installed across the United States, Europe, and Australia. A professor at the University of Oklahoma, Heap of Birds is considered a seminal figure in Native American contemporary art and conceptual art more broadly.
