Ebony G. Patterson is a Jamaican-born multidisciplinary artist whose lush, maximalist works explore themes of visibility, invisibility, violence, race, gender, and the politics of adornment. Working across tapestry, installation, photography, and mixed media, she creates densely layered compositions that draw on Caribbean cultural aesthetics, dancehall culture, and memento mori traditions to examine who is mourned and who is rendered invisible in society. Her work has been exhibited internationally at major institutions including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Smithsonian, and she represented Jamaica at the 2017 Venice Biennale.
