Bartolomeo Cavaceppi (c. 1716, 1799) was a leading Roman sculptor and restorer of ancient sculpture, widely regarded as the foremost antiquity restorer of the 18th century. He worked closely with prominent antiquarians and collectors, including Johann Joachim Winckelmann, and supplied restored ancient sculptures to aristocratic patrons across Europe. His workshop in Rome became a celebrated center for the study and restoration of classical antiquities, and he published his influential collection of restored works in 'Raccolta d'antiche statue' (1768, 1772).
