Dias created paintings, objects, and installations that critiqued violence and political systems. His early Pop-influenced works and conceptual projects like The Illustration of Art (1971-1977) questioned art's function. He lived in Milan and exhibited at Documenta and Venice Biennale; his work is held by MoMA, Tate, and Pinacoteca de São Paulo.
