Abraham Govaerts was a Flemish Baroque painter born in Antwerp in 1589, renowned for his meticulously detailed forest and woodland landscape paintings. He was a pupil of Jan Brueghel the Elder and became a master in the Antwerp Guild of Saint Luke in 1607. His works frequently featured dense, luminous forest interiors populated with figures from mythology or the Bible, and he often collaborated with figure painters such as Hendrick de Clerck.
