Hector Hyppolite (1894–1948) was a self-taught Haitian painter widely regarded as the 'Grand Maître of Haitian Art.' Born in Saint-Marc, he was a third-generation Vodou priest who also worked as a shoemaker and house painter before turning to fine art. His work drew deeply from Haitian spirituality and Vodou tradition, earning him international recognition.
