To Be Looked At…
To Be Looked At… (2024) by Ai Weiwei takes the form of a cluster of surveillance cameras cast in aluminium, a material that lends the work an austere, industrial presence. By transforming the architecture of control into a collectible artwork, Ai Weiwei positions the piece within the realm of political art , using its sculptural form to critique the normalization of state surveillance and its impact on individual freedom. Produced in an edition of 200, each sculpture is signed and numbered on the reverse, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, and preserved in its original wooden box in mint condition.
