Léonard Misonne (1870–1943) was a Belgian pictorialist photographer renowned for his atmospheric landscapes and genre scenes, often characterized by soft focus, misty light, and a painterly aesthetic influenced by the Impressionist movement. He mastered the manipulation of natural light and weather conditions, particularly fog and rain, to create evocative, mood-laden images that blurred the boundary between photography and fine art painting. Widely regarded as one of the most important European pictorialist photographers, his work gained international recognition through exhibitions and publications during the early twentieth century.
