Joseph Werner the Younger (1637, 1710) was a Swiss-German portrait and allegorical painter who worked at several European courts, including those of Louis XIV in Paris and the Brandenburg court in Berlin. He was known for his refined miniature portraits and large-scale decorative works, blending French academic style with Central European baroque sensibilities. Werner served as the first director of the Berlin Academy of Arts, founded in 1696, cementing his influence on German artistic institutions.
