Joachim Anthonisz. Wtewael (1566, 1638) was a Dutch Golden Age painter renowned for his highly detailed and richly colored Mannerist works, particularly small-scale cabinet paintings on copper. He was one of the last major practitioners of Mannerism in the Netherlands, celebrated for his intricate mythological and religious scenes featuring dynamic, elongated figures. Despite his artistic acclaim, he maintained a successful business as a flax merchant throughout his life.
