Frederick Henry Evans (1853–1943) was a pioneering British photographer celebrated for his luminous architectural studies, particularly of English and French Gothic cathedrals. Working primarily with platinum prints, he sought to capture the spiritual and aesthetic qualities of medieval architecture through masterful control of light and tone. Evans was a leading figure in the Pictorialist movement and was championed by Alfred Stieglitz, who featured his work in the influential journal Camera Notes and Camera Work.
