Qiu Ying (c. 1494, 1552) was one of the Four Masters of the Ming dynasty, celebrated for his exquisitely detailed figure paintings, landscapes, and depictions of court life rendered in the gongbi and blue-and-green styles. Works attributed to Qiu Ying represent paintings assessed by scholars and auction specialists as consistent with his workshop, followers, or period copies, reflecting his enormous influence on subsequent generations of Chinese painters. Such attributions are common in the Chinese art market due to the widespread practice of copying master works and the complexities of authentication in Ming-period painting.
