Cornelis Floris de Vriendt (1514–1575) was a prominent Flemish sculptor, architect, and ornamental designer based in Antwerp, celebrated for his influential grotesque ornamentation that became foundational to Northern European Mannerism. He is best known for designing the Antwerp Town Hall, one of the finest examples of Renaissance architecture in the Low Countries, as well as numerous elaborate tomb monuments across northern Europe. Works attributed to him often reflect his mastery of sculptural relief, classical motifs, and the inventive decorative vocabulary he disseminated through widely circulated print series.
