Alexander Adriaenssen (1587, 1661) was a Flemish Baroque painter renowned for his exquisitely detailed still life compositions, particularly vanitas scenes featuring fish, shellfish, game, and other foodstuffs arranged on stone ledges or tabletops. He was active primarily in Antwerp, where he became a master of the Guild of Saint Luke, and his work reflects the rich tradition of Flemish still life painting that flourished in the seventeenth century. His paintings are held in major museum collections and regularly appear at prominent international auction houses, prized for their refined technique and atmospheric depth.
