Gastone Novelli (1925–1968) was an Italian abstract painter and printmaker associated with the post-war European avant-garde, known for integrating written language, signs, and symbols into his gestural compositions. He co-founded the influential journal 'Appia Antica' and was closely connected to the Arte Informale movement, drawing on psychoanalysis, anthropology, and linguistics to develop a distinctive visual vocabulary. His work has been exhibited internationally and commands significant interest at major auction houses including Christie's, Sotheby's, and Dorotheum.
