Mariée (Bride)
A luminous exploration of mechanical eroticism and fragmented femininity, this aquatint in colours on Arches paper translates Marcel Duchamp's revolutionary conceptual vision into a richly layered printmaking collaboration with his brother Jacques Villon. The composition abstracts the female form into interlocking organic and mechanical passages, rendered with Villon's masterful command of tonal gradation and colour through the aquatint process. Together, the two artists bridge Cubist fragmentation and Dadaist provocation, producing a work of striking chromatic delicacy that anticipates Duchamp's landmark large glass, *The Bride Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors, Even*.
