Painting Paynes Grey/Red Oxide on White
A luminous field of white linen is interrupted by delicate, atmospheric traces of Paynes Grey and Red Oxide, their pigments appearing to dissolve and bleed into the surface as if caught mid-erasure. Callum Innes employs his signature process of applying and partially removing paint with solvent, leaving ghostly veils of color that hover between presence and absence. The result is a meditative work that explores the tension between mark-making and obliteration, matter and light.
