Self-portrait of You + Me (Halle Berry)

The charred remnants of a photograph of Halle Berry are fused onto a mirror's surface, her image partially consumed by fire and fading into blackness. The viewer's own reflection merges with what remains of the celebrity's face, collapsing the distance between spectator and subject, self and other. Gordon interrogates fame, desire, and identity by implicating the viewer directly in the act of looking, turning the gaze back on itself.
