Amie Dicke — Cry Wall
Amie Dicke

Cry Wall

2003

A fragmented female figure emerges from the carefully cut and altered pages of a glossy magazine, her image disrupted by Dicke's precise incisions and ink markings. The work interrogates the constructed ideals of femininity and beauty perpetuated by mass media, transforming commercial imagery into a haunting meditation on vulnerability and emotional rupture. Dicke's interventions dissolve the original surface into something raw and unstable, as though the image itself is breaking down under the weight of its own artifice.
