Amie Dicke
Jumping for Tom Ford for Gucci
2003
A meticulously cut and ink-altered magazine image, Dicke intervenes upon the glossy language of high fashion advertising by selectively removing and obscuring elements of the original Gucci campaign. The work transforms a commercial image into something more ambiguous and unsettling, stripping away the seductive polish of Tom Ford's iconic aesthetic while simultaneously preserving its allure. Through her process of cutting and marking, Dicke interrogates the power dynamics and idealized bodies embedded within luxury fashion imagery.
