Jacob Kassay
“They’re meant to be objects that engage the space around them.”
Jacob Kassay's electroplated canvases are coated with a thin layer of silver deposit over acrylic, creating mirror-like surfaces that reflect and absorb the surrounding environment. The work exists in constant dialogue with its surroundings, shifting in appearance as light, viewers, and spatial conditions change. True to its title, the painting dissolves the boundary between object and space, functioning as both an artwork and an active presence within the room it inhabits.
