This work comprises four fan leaves executed in ink and colour on gold paper by various Ming dynasty artists, showcasing the refined aesthetic preferences of literati painting during that period. The use of gold paper as a ground creates a luminous surface that complements the delicate brushwork characteristic of Ming landscape painting. The collaborative nature of the fan leaves, created by multiple artists, reflects the scholarly tradition of artistic exchange and collective creativity that was prevalent among educated elites of Ming China.
