bonded salt, salt, polyurethane, polymer medium, ash, epoxy, wood, galvanized steel, steel hardware
Banks Violette transforms raw industrial materials—salt, ash, steel, and epoxy—into austere sculptural environments that blur the boundary between physical substance and psychological residue. His work evokes the haunted aftermath of violent or traumatic events, imbuing everyday materials with a dark, almost ceremonial weight. The result is an unsettling stillness, as though the objects themselves have absorbed and retained the energy of some unnamed catastrophe.
