Yun Shouping, also known as Yun Nantian, was a preeminent Chinese painter of the Qing dynasty celebrated for his revival and mastery of the boneless (mogu) technique in flower painting, applying color washes without ink outlines to achieve luminous, naturalistic blossoms. Born in Changzhou, Jiangsu province, he became the most influential flower painter of his era, establishing the Changzhou school of painting that dominated Chinese floral art for generations. His works, particularly peonies, lotuses, and chrysanthemums rendered with delicate precision and vibrant pigments, command significant prices at major auction houses including Christie's, Sotheby's, and Bonhams.
