Burnt Umber and Ultramarine
2004
Yun Hyong-Keun applies deep, solemn bands of burnt umber and ultramarine oil paint onto raw linen, allowing the pigments to soak into the fabric and breathe with quiet, meditative weight. The colors bleed softly at their edges, creating a subtle dialogue between the warm darkness of earth and the cool depth of blue. Rooted in the Korean *Dansaekhwa* tradition, the work embodies a philosophy of restraint and emptiness, inviting slow, contemplative looking.
