Moon Studies and Star Scratches, No. 6
2004
This large format chromogenic print by Sharon Harper is part of her acclaimed Moon Studies and Star Scratches series, in which the artist captured multiple phases of the moon over an extended period across several geographic locations. The composite image presents dozens of lunar phases scattered across a deep, atmospheric dark field interspersed with luminous cloud formations and reflective water surfaces, creating a dreamlike and scientifically poetic record of time and celestial movement. The work entered the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2019 through the Vital Projects Fund Inc. Gift, supported by Joyce and Robert Menschel. It is represented in the rights domain by the artist and Rick Wester Fine Art.
