Untitled, from Chronique des Temps Héroïques (Bloch 804; Cramer 78)

This drypoint from Picasso's 1956 series "Chronique des Temps Héroïques" exemplifies the artist's continued exploration of classical and mythological themes during the mid twentieth century. The work was printed by the renowned Atelier Georges Leblanc in Paris and published by Louis Broder in a limited edition of 60 impressions on premium BFK Rive paper. Signed by Picasso in red crayon and numbered, this impression represents an important example of the artist's graphic output during a period when he was synthesizing modernist abstraction with references to antiquity and heroic narrative.
