A commanding large-scale canvas by Mary Corse, one of the few female artists associated with the California Light and Space movement. The work features a central vertical black band composed of glass microspheres suspended in acrylic, flanked by white acrylic fields that shift luminously with ambient light and the viewer's position. Corse's signature use of glass microspheres — originally developed for highway reflectors — gives the surface a subtle, optically active quality that transforms the painting across different lighting conditions. This is a unique work, measuring 78 × 78 inches, representing one of Corse's iconic band compositions from her mature practice.
