José Bedia
In this work, José Bedia draws upon the sacred ritual objects and elemental forces of the Palo Monte tradition, weaving together symbolic imagery that bridges the spiritual and material worlds. The work's title enumerates six Kongolese-derived elements — anvil, knife, drink, fire, water, and dog — each carrying deep ceremonial significance within Afro-Cuban religious practice. Bedia, known for his immersive engagement with indigenous and diasporic spiritual systems, uses these charged symbols to explore themes of transformation, power, and the enduring presence of African cosmology in the Americas.
