Selected Portraits (3 Photographs)
1899
This collection of three albumen prints by Eugène Atget documents Parisian street vendors and artisans, featuring a saw repairman, a guitar player, and a wire basket merchant, each identified by its own archival number. The photographs exemplify Atget's documentary approach to capturing the working class and urban trades of early twentieth century Paris. The stamp on the reverse referencing Berenice Abbott indicates these prints passed through Abbott's hands, the American photographer who acquired much of Atget's archive and was instrumental in preserving and promoting his legacy.
