Four works from Un coup de dés jamais n'abolira le hasard (by Stéphane Mallarmé)
1992
Ellsworth Kelly created four lithographic works based on Stéphane Mallarmé's poetic text Un coup de dés jamais n'abolira le hasard in 1992. Printed on fine Vélin BFK Rives paper, these works combine visual art with literary inspiration. Kelly's abstract forms interact with the spatial arrangement of Mallarmé's experimental typography and language. The lithographic process allows for subtle variations in tone and texture across the four compositions. This collaboration between visual and literary modernism demonstrates Kelly's engagement with interdisciplinary artistic practice.
