YES! (A bag made by my mother)

2021

A whimsical and richly layered composition by Japanese artist Atsushi Kaga, featuring his signature anthropomorphic rabbit figure standing at a table laden with still-life objects including eggplants, tomatoes, a pear, a decorative blue-and-white teapot, a canned good, and a fish-patterned lantern vase — all set against an ornate gold-leaf background dense with climbing foliage, red and white blooms. A black cat observes the scene from below. The work seamlessly fuses East Asian decorative traditions with contemporary naive figuration, achieving a dreamlike domestic tableau. Signed, titled, and dated on the reverse, with provenance tracing directly to Maho Kubota Gallery, Tokyo.
