Shelf paintings (Pottery in October #8)
A collaborative work by Fredrik Værslev and Dan Rees, this piece merges painting and sculpture through layers of spray paint applied to plywood, mounted with a functional birch shelf held in place by brass screws and hinges. Ceramic objects rest on the shelf, blurring the boundary between artwork and everyday domestic display. The combination of industrial materials and handcrafted pottery creates a dialogue between utility and aesthetics, inviting viewers to question the relationship between art objects and the surfaces that support them.
