Taysir Batniji is a Gaza-born Palestinian artist based in Paris whose multidisciplinary practice spanning photography, video, installation, and drawing confronts themes of loss, memory, displacement, and the violence of occupation. His acclaimed series 'GH0809' (2009) documents the destruction of Gaza homes during the 2008, 2009 Israeli military operation through a clinical, almost bureaucratic visual language that amplifies the emotional weight of erasure. Batniji has exhibited widely at institutions including the Centre Pompidou, the Sharjah Biennial, and dOCUMENTA (13), and is represented by major galleries, cementing his status as a leading figure in contemporary Palestinian and Arab art.
