Susan Crawford

Susan Crawford is a highly regarded British equestrian portrait painter, widely considered one of the foremost artists working in the tradition of equestrian and sporting art in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Born in 1941, she trained at the Edinburgh College of Art and went on to develop a distinctive style rooted in classical realism, with a particular sensitivity to the anatomy, temperament, and presence of horses. Her work carries on a lineage associated with great British sporting painters such as George Stubbs and Sir Alfred Munnings, while retaining a warmth and intimacy uniquely her own.
