Oscar yi Hou is a British-Chinese emerging artist and one of the most celebrated young painters of his generation, known for lush, large-scale portraits that center queer Asian identity, diaspora, and the politics of representation. Trained at the Slade School of Fine Art, his work draws on art historical traditions while subverting Western canonical hierarchies, situating his sitters, often friends and members of the queer Asian community, within richly symbolic pictorial spaces. He has held solo exhibitions at institutions including White Cube and Half Gallery, and was named a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, with his works entering major public and private collections globally.
