Nontsikelelo Mutiti is a Zimbabwean-born interdisciplinary artist, designer, and educator whose practice spans graphic design, installation, video, and textiles, with a particular focus on the intersection of African typography, hair culture, and Black feminist thought. Her work investigates the politics of knowledge production, visibility, and the African diaspora, often drawing on vernacular visual cultures and indigenous design systems from Zimbabwe and beyond. Mutiti has exhibited widely at institutions including the Studio Museum in Harlem, the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, and has been recognized as a significant voice in both contemporary art and design education, where she holds a faculty position at Yale School of Art.
