Maria de Corral is a highly influential Spanish curator and art critic who has shaped the contemporary art world through her leadership roles at major institutions, including as director of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid during the 1990s. She co-curated the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005 alongside Rosa Martínez, a landmark appointment as the first time two women simultaneously led the prestigious international exhibition, presenting the Spanish Pavilion and overseeing major international selections.
