Kong Shangren was a Chinese playwright and literatus of the Qing Dynasty best known for his masterpiece drama 'The Peach Blossom Fan,' which remains one of the most celebrated works of Chinese classical theater. He was also skilled in poetry and calligraphy, embodying the ideals of the cultured scholar-official.
