Hrag Vartanian

Hrag Vartanian is a Canadian-American art critic, curator, and the co-founder and editor-in-chief of Hyperallergic, one of the most widely read contemporary art publications focused on critical and independent perspectives on the art world. While primarily known as a cultural journalist and commentator rather than a studio artist, he has shaped discourse around art criticism, activist art, and underrepresented voices through his editorial work since founding Hyperallergic in 2009. His curatorial and critical practice champions emerging artists, social justice themes, and communities historically marginalized within mainstream art institutions.
