Edward Saidi Tingatinga

Edward Saidi Tingatinga was a Tanzanian painter born in 1937 who founded the Tingatinga style, characterized by bright colors and surrealist depictions of animals. He is considered one of Africa's most important contemporary artists, though he died in 1972 at age 34. His distinctive style continues to influence artists across East Africa.
