Choi Jeong-hwa is a Seoul-based multidisciplinary artist known for his vibrant, maximalist installations that draw on consumer culture, popular aesthetics, and everyday materials such as plastic flowers, household goods, and industrial objects. His work blurs the boundaries between art, design, and commerce, often transforming mundane or kitsch objects into large-scale celebratory spectacles that interrogate consumerism and cultural identity. He has exhibited widely at major international venues including the Venice Biennale, the Liverpool Biennial, and the Gwangju Biennale, and is considered a pivotal figure in contemporary Korean art.
