Basilius Besler (1561-1629) was a German botanist and illustrator best known for creating the Hortus Eystettensis, one of the most important botanical works of the Renaissance. His detailed engravings of plants from the Prince-Bishop's garden in Eichstätt became influential references for scientific illustration.
